  • Ben Browder (Starfest-2013)

Posted on July 21, 2016 7:53 pm by Admin Comment

benbrowderBen Browder is best known for his incredible portrayal of ‘John Crichton’ on Farscape. What started out as a modern day “Buck Rogers” story quickly became a entity all its own and garnered one of the most loyal fan bases known in any universe. After Farscape came to an end, he popped up in the last two seasons of another much loved sci-fi show, Stargate: SG1 as ‘Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell’. He reprised the role in two follow up made-for-TV movies. To many fans delight he even found his way into Doctor Who for an episode!

Mr. Browder stopped by Denver Starfest 2013 and was kind enough to give up some time for a few interviews, including the one below! (There were some technical difficulties with one of the camera shots so this one looks a little one-sided, but the important half is intact.)
We talk about his first steps into sci-fi as a fan, the many facets of Farscape and the project that just can’t seem to get off the ground, Naught for Hire.

  • Michael Felsher or “Red Shirt Pictures” (Starfest-2013)

Posted on July 18, 2016 8:10 pm by Admin Comment

Denver Starfest can be a place to meet some very interesting people and 2013 was no exception.
Michael Felsher started Red Shirt Pictures in 2004. His company provides much of the special features you’ll find on those shiny DVD and Blurays, including The Monster Squad, Evil Dead 2, Lucio Fulci’s Zombie, several George A. Romero films and many others.

This was an industry I had no idea existed and it was a lot of fun to sit down and learn more about Michael and Red Shirt Pictures.

  • John Noble (Starfest-2012)

Posted on July 18, 2016 7:39 pm by Admin Comment

John Noble’s portrayal of “Walter”, “Walter-nate” and the many versions thereof on Fox’s Fringe is what he may be best known for but he has also appeared in many films and on stage. He has also directed over 80 plays and can also be called upon as a voice coach. In short, he has done it all.

It was Fringe that first introduced me to Mr. Noble. Through the highs and lows of the series I have never come away in anything less than awe at the ability that this man has to pull me into the story whether it is to make me laugh, cry or any and every emotion in between.
To say I was just a little bit excited at the prospect of speaking with John Noble is maybe an understatement of the most extreme variety.

I ask John about the decision to take on a regular series after so much stage and film, the evolution of the character of ‘Walter’ and even get to talk about the (unforgivable) lack of an Emmy nomination.

luciana_carroMs. Carro stepped onto the set of the new Battlestar Galactica expecting to do a one shot character and move on. Little did she know that she would get the chance to develop Louanne “Kat” Katraine over 3 seasons and 18 episodes.

She attended her first Starfest and was kind enough to sit down with us to chat.

  • Marina Sirtis (Starfest-2010)

Posted on July 12, 2016 5:31 pm by Admin Comment

marina-sirtisAt the 2010 Denver Starfest the big Star Trek guest was none other than ‘Counselor Troi’ herself, Marina Sirtis!

We had a neat little chat about the evolution, or lack thereof, of the character of Troi and what sort of things she looks for in roles today. (And I gush a bit in the end )
Ms. Sirtis was candid, fun and a pleasure to talk to.

(By the way, with the posting of this interview it is official, we have spoken with someone from EVERY incarnation of Trek)

  • Vincenzo Natali, director of “Cube” & “Splice” (Starfest-2010)

Posted on July 11, 2016 8:36 pm by Admin Comment

NataliAs much as I enjoy talking with the actors that appear in front of the cameras, I LOVE it when I get a chance to speak with the people BEHIND the camera.
Denver Starfest 2010 gave me another chance to do just that with Vincenzo Natali.

Mr. Natali is the writer and director of the phenomenal direct-to-video film Cube and is now taking his latest project Splice to the big screen.

Starring Adrien Brody & Sarah Polley as genetic engineers who have secretly spliced DNA into a human hybrid. The result is ‘Dren’, an amazing, strangely beautiful creature that exhibits uncommon intelligence and an array of unexpected physical developments.

    Part one:

    and Part two:
We talk about his beginnings in film, his work on Cube and a future project that he would love to do.

We talk of her first “almost got it”, and the difficulties of performing characters of such wide emotional range.

  • Patricia Tallman (Starfest-2009)

Posted on July 5, 2016 6:22 pm by Admin Comment

TallmanLyta Alexander, the commercial telepath in J. Michael Straczynski’s epic series Babylon 5, ended up being far more complex than she might have first appeared. By the end of the five year story she had grown to become the universe’s most powerful telepath and maybe have laid the seeds for a telepath uprising.

In a similar way, Patricia Tallman, the actress who played Alexander, has had a more varied career than you might expect. She has acted beside Vorlons, secret agents, the undead, and played on more than one starship. Her most current work can be seen in Dead Air, a sci-fi thriller set for release later this year.

In our video interview from Starfest 2009, Tallman talks about working with Straczynski, one of the unexpected challenges of portraying Lyta Alexander, and her “knockout” encounter with the ‘International Man of Mystery’.
